Saskia Carusi
Saskia Carusi is the Deputy Chief for the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction, regional office for the Americas and the Caribbean. She has served in the regional office in various capacities since 2015.
With over 20 years of professional experience, Carusi has primarily worked with international NGOs like Oxfam and Cooperazione Internazionale. During this time, she managed projects and programs in risk reduction, humanitarian response, and local development in Latin America and North Africa. She has a strong track record of collaboration with local and national governments, where she supported capacity building and planning processes.
Carusi holds a degree in Social Anthropology from the University of Sussex, in addition to a degree in Integral Risk Management from the University of San Pablo in Guatemala. She also possesses a Master's degree in Development Studies from the Institute of Social Studies of The Hague, with a specialization in local and regional development.
